K-ON! episode #12
Yui Hirasawa has a fever and is unable to practice for the upcoming school festival. The Light Music Club is insecure about performing without her, but in the end, they're able to give their concert with Yui.
Yui has a strong fever and needs to stay home. Her sister, Ui, takes care of her as much as she can, but both know that if she doesn't recover soon, the band might have to play without her at the forthcoming school festival.
While Mio and Azusa blame Ritsu for Yui's illness since she was sick just recently too and Yui fell asleep next to her, Ui blames the yukata their teacher Sawako Yamanaka prepared for them for the concert the day before. Azusa, Mio and Ritsu remember how they tested many other costumes and how fond Yui was of the yukata. Ui tells them that her sister spend the whole day in the outfit and likely got sick due to being underdressed for the weather. Mio asks Azusa to prepare to play Yui's parts in the concert as well, just in case she doesn't recover in time.
The next day after school, the band practices with Azusa playing Yui's part with no problem. Suddenly, Yui appears, healthy and ready to practice as well. Though initially elated, the following rehearsals sound way too perfect compared to Yui's normal performances. As Mio, Ritsu, and Tsumugi become more skeptical with each flawless rehearsal run from Yui, Sawako finally lets the cat out of the bag and proves to everyone that Yui is actually Ui in disguise.
With her cover blown, Ui apologizes and explains that she was just trying to be helpful to her sister. At that moment, the real Yui shows up, just as sick as she was the day before and completely unable to practice. Although she tells her band to go on without her, Tsumugi and especially Azusa outright reject the idea. To allow this to happen, Mio banishes Yui from the clubroom to force her to recover properly and be able to play with them for real at the concert.
Finally, the day of the concert arrives. Yui is still absent from school and everyone is growing more and more apprehensive, unable to decide whether or not to perform. As they mull over their options, Nodoka Manabe shows up to check if the club is ready to perform. After she marks all members as being present although Yui is still missing, she tells them a story about Yui collecting a whole bathtub full of crawfish when they were kids as a proof of Yui's habit of being so single-minded that she tends to forget everything else when she wants to accomplish something. Just at that moment, Sawako appears with a new version of the yukata, proudly worn by the one and only Yui herself.
After Yui apologizes to everyone, especially Azusa who was the most worried of them all, the band prepares to move to the auditorium. Their preparations come to a screeching halt when Yui notices that her guitar is missing, having forgotten that Ui brought it home for her. Refusing to use Sawako's guitar because she doesn't feel like she can play with any other guitar, she rushes home to get her instrument.
Just before the concert starts, Ui meets Jun Suzuki in the auditorium. The concert starts with "Fude Pen ~Ball Pen~", but Yui's part is played by Sawako. In the meantime, Yui reaches her home, grabs her guitar and sprints back to the school, running the same route in the same way she did on her first day of high school over a year ago. Overflown with nostalgic thoughts, she realizes that the Light Music Club turned out to be the most important aspect of her life in such a short time, giving her a place to be finally able to be important to others and where she is secure and content.
Just as the first song ends, Yui reaches the stage. Sawako leaves the rest to her students and exits the stage to heavy applause. Yui, out of breath and conscience-stricken, starts crying, but the rest of the band calms her down and builds her up, insisting that she's just as important to them as they are to her.
Afterwards, being complete once and for all, the band plays "Fuwa Fuwa Time" and the performance is well received. After the song finishes, Tsumugi starts an encore with Ritsu, Mio, Azusa and finally Yui joining one at a time.
