Shuffle Volume 1, Chapter 8 is a chapter of the first Volume of the K-ON! Shuffle Manga by Kakifly.
Summary[]
At the beginning of a school day, Maho walks to her desk and notices Yukari and Kaede are missing. She realizes it's very quiet with them gone. As soon as the teacher is about to take roll, Kaede rushes in out of breath and apologies for being late. She explains that Yukari caught the flu with the teacher wondering why she is late though. Some of the students think that Kaede must have taken care of Yukari or took her to the hospital, with the teacher decided to overlook it. As soon as Kaede goes to her desk Maho turns around and correctly assumes she was only late because Yukari didn't wake her up.
Kaede then explains to Maho that the one thing she can't handle is waking up early. Maho suggests going to bed early, but Kaede reveals she spends most nights practicing on her bass with Maho admiring her for working hard. Maho then realizes that with Yukari off sick she will be alone with Kaede during class and lunch making her nervous. Over the day Kaede realizes she has forgot stuff like her eraser, gym uniform and wallet with Maho lending her all off them. This leaves Maho shocked that Yukari does this everyday.
While Maho comments on Kaede enjoying her food, Karin suddenly hugs Maho from the back stating she found her. Karin asks why she hasn't had lunch with her lately with Maho's mood decreasing. Maho mentions she has had lunch with Karin since elementary school, so surely she can have it with someone else once in a while. Karin responds calling her cold with Maho telling her to shut up and she'll see her tomorrow. Kaede feels sorry for Karin insists Karin have lunch with them. Karin thanks her and asks her to call her by her given name "Karin" and Kaede does the same, which slightly annoys Maho.
Karin asks Maho why she join the Light Music Appreciation Society, despite already being in the Basketball Club. She tries to ditch the question, but Kaede is curious too with her getting very close making Maho blush. Karin notices this and says that Maho is a sucker for pretty faces, with Maho trying to deny this. She then tries to give an answer, remembering Yukari say she wants to try playing the drums and says she was just dazzling. This leaves Karin confused and asking for more detail saying something is fishy, while Maho tells her to forget it. Kaede then interrupts saying she knows what she means with Yukari being awesome. Maho eventually agrees but says she will never say it in front of her. She mentions that Yukari is someone that makes you want to challenge yourself, with Kaede not getting the proper point, agreeing and stating that she loves Yukari too.
Karin now understands why Maho joined, but states if she slacks off on basketball practice she may pull the rug from under her and get a position on the team. Maho then starts to ignore Karin asking what Kaede's favourite onigiri filling is, while Karin insists she's been practicing really hard lately. Karin demands Maho have a one on one with her right now. Maho at first says she doesn't want to, but Kaede says she wants to see her play and immediately changes her mind. Maho then easily beats Karin with Kaede seen clapping.
At Yukari's house, Yukari sneezes and assumes someone is gossiping about her, while Kurumi insists it's just the flu. Yukari tells her she's gonna catch her flu being there, but states her virus is no match for her. Yukari then starts sneezing rapidly with Kurumi backing away telling her to stop and asking if she's doing it on purpose.
