The meaning of Ui's name[]

Previously on Ui's page (in other words, before I edited it), it said "Ui's name literally (and rather appropriately) means "kind" and "considerate."", which would be the case if the kanji of her name was "優", "yuu". However, her name is spelled with the kanji "憂", also pronounced "yuu", but "ui" in names as is the case here (Look familiar? It's the same kanji that forms the "yuuutsu" from the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya). Ui's name actually means "grief, worry, suffering, sadness, melancholy", and so on. That's pretty depressing, considering that Yui's name can be taken to mean "only" or "precious". Was Ui a mistake...? No, I won't go into that. I'm not a troll.

Instead, how about this? We can note that Ui is a worrisome person because she cares so much about the people around her. For example, she works hard to help Yui all the time and worries about every single little thing that happens to her beloved older sister.

Another interpretation can be taken by playing around a little bit with the kanji. The character for kindness is exactly the same as the character for grief with the exception of one radical - the radical for "hito", person (The thing that looks like this: イ). So, when Ui (憂, the kanji for grief) is with others (イ, the radical for 人, person), she is full of "kindness" (優, which is イ + 憂).

I think I might do this for all of the characters here. Name origins are always fun, especially since the K-ON! cast in particular seem to have very fitting names.
