Summary

Sawako Yamanaka declines Norimi Kawaguchi's pleas to perform with the rest of their old band Death Devil at a wedding, so the current generation of the Light Music Club needs to step in.

Plot

Sawako and Norimi fighting

Sawako fighting with an unknown person.

One morning on her way to school, Tsumugi notices her teacher, Sawako Yamanaka, angrily talking to an unknown person sitting in a car, and wonders what it is about.

Sawako's image has to be untouched

Sawako's image has to stay elegant.

After school, Sawako explains to the Light Music Club her exhausting daily routine and why she needs to use her time with the club to relax. Yui and Mio attempt to cheer up their worn down teacher as she soaks her feet in a bucket of warm water. Ritsu suggests revealing her history as a member of the band Death Devil to scare people away, to which Sawako once again responds that she worked too hard building up her image of an elegant teacher to throw it away now. If Sawako's past came to light, according to her imagination, the students of the school would become rebellious and she wouldn't be able to stop them because they would know that Sawako was the same in the past. Azusa informs the teacher that her logic is extremely flawed. At that moment, Sawako gets called by somebody on her mobile phone. After answering, she gets mad at the person on the other end of the line and quickly leaves the room. While Ritsu makes fun of her teacher's behavior, Tsumugi remembers the scene she witnessed that morning and tells the others about it.

Mugi stalks Sawako

Tsumugi encourages the others to start following Sawako.

On their way back home, everybody except Yui presumes the unknown caller to be Sawako's boyfriend. While still getting over the shock of the thought of Sawako having a boyfriend, Mio spots Sawako down the road. Ritsu decides to follow her, brushing aside Azusa's objections and taking the rest of the band with her on her stalking mission.

Ritsu got hit as the only one

Ritsu was the only one to get hit .

Sawako finally reaches her meeting point, with Ho-kago Tea Time secretly trailing behind her. While Azusa is sucked into the mood, Mio talks about how she pities Sawako in a tone suggesting that she knows what the teacher is going through. The others, using the opportunity to tease her, act as if they are not surprised by Mio's supposed hidden boyfriend, leading Mio to declare that the Light Music Club is the only boyfriend she currently has or needs at the moment. Stunned, the others applaud her and cause Mio to smack only Ritsu.

Yui under the table

Yui nearly blew their cover.

At the same moment, the person Sawako was waiting for appears. To the surprise of the band members, it is a woman. They decide to continue their stakeout and end at a restaurant, confusing the personnel as they loiter in the lobby. Nervous of being discovered, the group rushes to a table where they can observe Sawako and her acquaintance. While jostling for space on the bench with Azusa and Ritsu, Yui's guitar falls down and she ends up hiding under the table. She eventually forces her way to the surface again while Azusa tells her to be quiet so Sawako's friend doesn't hear them. This doesn't seem to be the case, much to their relief.

HTT's stealth

The group trying to remain hidden

Taking a closer look, Yui starts to recognize the unknown woman. Suddenly, they are interrupted by a waiter asking them for their orders. Since the drink bar is on the other side of the building, they realize that they have to order something to eat to be able to stay. Yui, unsure about what to order, starts forgetting their original task as the enticing desserts distract her. At that moment, they notice that Sawako's friend is staring at them. Sawako, skeptical about her friend's behavior, looks at the table too, just to see nothing as the group lies down on the bench to hide.

Norimi scary

Norimi scares Mio and Tsumugi.

Some time later, Sawako and her friend leave the restaurant. Ho-kago Tea Time regrets not being able to find out who the strange woman was, prompting Yui to remember that she recognized the woman from an old picture of Death Devil. At that moment, said woman surprises them all by loudly affirming Yui's deduction, introducing herself as "Christina". Mio, terrified, freezes on the spot, leading Christina to apologize to her. She then tells them that she has something to discuss with the current generation of the Light Music Club, inviting them over to a roadside yatai.

Norimi made a crushing joke

Norimi successfully tricks Ho-kago Tea Time.

Inside the stall, she starts playing on Yui's guitar, earning the respect of the club members for her extraordinary skills. She then reveals her real name, Norimi Kawaguchi, and tells them to order whatever they want. Since she thinks ganmodoki sounds "cool", Tsumugi orders it while Mio asks Norimi about the purpose of their stay. Norimi bluntly declares that Sawako is currently engaged, causing the members to all freak out at once. Amused, Norimi reveals that she was kidding.

Norimi subsequently tells the band the real problem, which is the wedding of another previous Light Music Club member, Mihoko. She asked Death Devil to perform for her, but Sawako isn't willing to participate because she is still trying to hide her past. After Tsumugi gets her meal, which turns out to be disappointing for her, Norimi gives Yui her guitar back and apologizes for hogging it for so long. Yui says that she doesn't mind, and despite being a bit daunted by Norimi's talent, nevertheless starts playing herself.

Ritsu is a pen

Ritsu betrays Mio.

The next day at school, the class has study hall, an opportunity Tsumugi uses to ask Mio via passing notes for ideas on how they could convince Sawako to participate. Mio has no clue herself, and asking Yui yields nothing helpful. Ritsu turns out to be the complete opposite of help by passing weird drawings of Sawako to Mio, causing the bassist to nearly suffocate herself trying to hold back her laughter. Eventually, Sawako catches Mio red-handed and Ritsu quickly abandons her friend, pretending she wasn't involved at all. Before Mio can think of something to say, Tsumugi raises her hand, proclaiming that she wants to take full responsibility. To the surprise of the whole class, she asks Sawako to be allowed to stand in the hallway as punishment, something she says she's wanted to do ever since starting school.

Yui, Ritsu, Mugi and Mio punished

The group standing outside as punishment

Granting the wish, Sawako sends the Light Music Club seniors outside. While Tsumugi enjoys her punishment, Mio reminds the rest of Norimi's favor, convincing Sawako to join her band at the wedding. Ritsu also remembers Norimi's threat of putting the club through a special training if they should fail, so the club decides to ask Sawako to perform after school. At that moment, Sawako orders them to come back inside.

When the group arrives at the faculty office later, they can see Sawako taking pictures with students, showing how popular she actually is. Unwilling to ruin what Sawako has been working so hard to build for herself, the group rejects the idea of asking her to perform. Norimi accepts their decision, but she tells the band they can help out in another way instead.

Back home, Yui listens to a song from Death Devil via headphones, trying to learn it on the guitar. When her sister, Ui Hirasawa, enters the room, Yui tells her that adults are amazing and wonders if she will become an adult too when she grows up.

Keisuke's and Mihoko's wedding

Sawako greets Mihoko and Kawakami.

Finally, the day of the wedding arrives. Mihoko and her husband, Keisuke, are seen welcoming their guests when Sawako appears, greeting Mihoko and their friend Kawakami while also apologizing for not performing. Mihoko tells her that it is fine and that she still looks forward to it, surprising Sawako.

From outside the dressing room, Ho-kago Tea Time can be heard undergoing some embarrassing changes of clothing. Ritsu, apparently humiliated the most, bursts out of the room after being asked if she could breathe fire for the show.

HTT and DD on stage

Ho-kago Tea Time performs together with Death Devil.

Shortly afterwards, the main event is announced and Death Devil prepares to perform. Sawako is shocked to see Ho-Kago Tea Time in unusually daring outfits next to Norimi, Della and Jane. Norimi starts the performance but Yui makes a mistake right away. Sawako, witnessing her group being cheered on and being called cute by the people in the audience, fights to quell her urge to take the guitar from Yui. As she watches the image of her band continue to be sullied by Yui and the others, however, she can't remain idle and turns off the lights in order to make a spectacular entrance onto the stage.

Sawako decides to play with her band again

Sawako shows the audience Death Devil's real nature.

Taking Yui's guitar, Sawako plays a solo before announcing that Death Devil isn't child's play. Norimi, glad that her plan worked, starts the real concert and Death Devil plays the way they used to, nearly blasting the audience away as the bride and groom go wild with excitement. While playing the song "Love", flashbacks of Death Devil's past are shown, emphasizing their close friendship and their graduation. After the song ends, Sawako realizes what she has done, leading Ho-Kago Tea Time to feel guilty.

Sawako posing with her fans

Sawako is still liked by the students

The next day after school, Sawako is still in shock over her slip up, worrying about the school turning on her if now that her true nature has been revealed. At that moment, three first-year students show up to talk to Sawako. Before she can even understand what's happening, she finds herself taking a picture with two of the students in a rocker pose with her glasses off. After the students thank her and leave, she looks at the Light Music Club in shock, clueless as to what just happened. Ho-Kago Tea Time notices, just as surprised as Sawako, that people still admire Sawako despite her past coming to light, possibly even more than before. The band then discusses if they should follow in Death Devil's footsteps by changing their style to be like Sawako's band, so that they would definitely be remembered like their predecessors.
